Located in the northwest corner of Tacoma's Lincoln International District, Jennie Reed Elementary now boasts a vibrant play area designed to serve both students and the surrounding community. The play area includes two distinct playground structures—one tailored for school-age children and another for kindergarteners—along with a swing zone and two hill slides that converge near a central spinner. A unique highlight is the custom jaguar sculpture, representing the school’s mascot, skillfully designed by ID Sculpture.
This project transformed an area with one of Tacoma's highest concentrations of concrete, creating accessible green space for 1,510 residents within a 10-minute walk of their homes. The park, made possible through the collaboration of Trust for Public Land, Metro Parks Tacoma, Tacoma Public Schools, Playworld Inc., ID Sculpture, and ForeverLawn Puget Sound.
